This Cookie Policy forms part of our Privacy Policy and should be read in conjunction with it. By using the Platform, you consent to our use of cookies in accordance with this Cookie Policy.

4.4 Marketing and Advertising Cookies
TalentGrid does not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. We do not track users across websites for advertising purposes, and we do not sell personal information to third parties. If we introduce marketing or advertising cookies in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy and seek your explicit consent.
5. Specific Cookies and Technologies Used
5.1 Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage statistics and understand how users interact with the Platform. GA4 sets cookies to track user sessions, page views, and events. Data collected by GA4 is processed by Google and may be stored on servers located outside New Zealand (including in the United States).
Important: By default, Google Analytics is disabled on the TalentGrid Platform. GA4 cookies are only set and data is only collected after you click "Accept" on our cookie consent banner. If you click "Reject" or close the banner without accepting, no GA4 cookies are set and no analytics data is sent to Google.
We have configured GA4 with privacy-focused settings:
- IP address anonymisation is enabled (IP addresses are masked)
- Data retention is set to 14 months
- Google Signals (cross-device tracking) is disabled
- Advertising features are disabled
- Data sharing with Google for benchmarking and technical support is disabled

5.2 Google reCAPTCHA v3
We use Google reCAPTCHA v3 on our contact forms and registration pages to protect against spam, bots, and automated abuse. reCAPTCHA v3 runs in the background and analyses user interactions to determine whether a submission is from a human or a bot. It does not require users to solve puzzles or click checkboxes.
reCAPTCHA v3 collects certain information, including:
- IP address
- Browser and device information
- Mouse movements and interactions with the page
- Cookies set by Google
This information is processed by Google and may be stored on servers outside New Zealand. reCAPTCHA is essential for the security and integrity of our forms and does not require separate consent.

5.3 Local Storage (Cookie Consent Preference)
When you accept or reject cookies via our cookie consent banner, your preference is stored in your browser's local storage (not a cookie). This ensures that you are not repeatedly shown the cookie banner on future visits. The local storage item is called cookieConsent and contains your choice ("accepted" or "rejected") and a timestamp.
This preference remains in your browser until you manually clear your local storage or change your preference.
6. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on the Platform are set by third-party services that we use. We do not control these third-party cookies, and they are subject to the privacy policies of the respective third parties. The third-party cookies currently used on the Platform are:
- Google Analytics 4: Analytics cookies set by Google (only with your consent)
- Google reCAPTCHA v3: Security cookies set by Google (essential for form security)
We carefully select third-party services and ensure they comply with New Zealand privacy laws and international standards. We have data processing agreements in place with third-party service providers to ensure they handle your data securely and in accordance with our instructions.
7. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
7.1 Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit the TalentGrid Platform, you will see a cookie consent banner at the bottom of the page. You can choose to:
- Accept: Consent to all cookies, including analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4)
- Reject: Decline non-essential cookies. Only essential cookies will be used.
Your choice is stored in local storage and will be remembered for future visits. By default, if you do not make a choice, non-essential cookies (including Google Analytics) are not activated until you click "Accept".
7.2 Changing Your Cookie Preferences
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by:
- Clearing Local Storage: In your browser settings, clear local storage for
talentgrid.co.nz. The cookie banner will reappear on your next visit. - Contacting Us: Email us at privacy@talentgrid.co.nz and we can assist you with managing your cookie preferences.
7.3 Browser Cookie Settings
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

- Block all cookies
- Block third-party cookies only

Note: Blocking essential cookies may prevent the Platform from functioning correctly. You may not be able to log in, submit forms, or access certain features if essential cookies are disabled.
7.4 Opting Out of Google Analytics
In addition to using our cookie consent banner to reject analytics cookies, you can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
7.5 Do Not Track (DNT) Signals
Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals websites that you do not want to be tracked. However, there is currently no universal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. TalentGrid respects user privacy and implements a consent-based approach: by default, we do not activate non-essential cookies until you explicitly consent via our cookie banner.
8. How Long Do Cookies Last?
The lifespan of cookies varies depending on their purpose:
- Session Cookies: Deleted when you close your browser (e.g., authentication session cookies)
- Persistent Cookies: Remain on your device for a set period (ranging from days to months) or until you manually delete them
Specific cookie lifespans:
- Authentication Session: Session cookie (deleted when browser is closed)
- Google Analytics 4: Up to 2 years (as set by Google)
- Google reCAPTCHA: Varies (typically 6 months, as set by Google)
- Cookie Consent Preference (Local Storage): Indefinite (until you clear local storage)
9. Data Protection and Privacy
Our use of cookies is governed by the Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles (IPPs). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that any data collected via cookies is handled securely and transparently.

Some of the third-party services we use (such as Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA) may process or store data collected via cookies outside of New Zealand, including in the United States and other countries. When data is transferred internationally, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with IPP 12 of the Privacy Act 2020.
Google has implemented appropriate safeguards, including adherence to internationally recognised data protection frameworks and contractual commitments, to protect data transferred outside New Zealand.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our use of cookies, new technologies, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will:

- Post a notice on the Platform
- Notify registered Users via email for significant changes
